View Full Version : Ray the Random Robot competes at DF Markets for the first time

Unlike last month (http://community.trading-gurus.com/threads/190-Myfxbook-VantageFX-Trading-Championship-February-2012) Ray remembered to start his latest trading contest (http://www.myfxbook.com/members/TradingGurus/contest-tradinggurus/259210) on the right day, which was yesterday. For a bit of variety he decided to try trading AUD/USD for the first time, which revealed a typo in the source code of his electronic brain! We fixed that, and set him running once more.

Next Ray discovered that despite the fact that DF Markets are based here in the UK, their flavour of MetaTrader 4 wouldn't let him place market orders with built-in stops and targets. We reconfigured him once more, this time by turning his "StpMode" switch on.

At long last both Ray and DF Markets were happy, and by yesterday lunchtime Ray had managed to start trading. This morning Ray is even happier, since Lady Luck has smiled on him overnight, and he's got some profitable trades under his metaphorical belt (he doesn't actually wear any trousers). Ray is now in 350th position, with a gain of 6.24% following a drawdown of 2%:

As he's become used to over the years, Ray is already a long way behind the leader. They've already amassed pretend profits of 279%, following a drawdown of 33%.

There's still a long way to go of course, but Ray is hopeful of ultimately improving on his 175th place out of 2700 in his last competition. It would certainly help if myfxbook could get their own sums right this time around, but on the evidence shown above they still have some work to do in that department!

Well done Ray!

RAI also decided to enter, against the advice of his doctor, and consequently is running at a loss! Hopefully I'll have a chance to fix some of RAI's short comings over the weekend...

Hi Dr. T,

Ray's pleased to discover that RAI is keeping him company in amongst all those manual traders making over 100% a day. He's asked me to point out that he's not counting any chickens just yet. After all, according to myfxbook there's still "29 Days 5 Hours 52 minutes" to go!

Feel free to start a new thread here in this forum if you fancy keeping us updated on RAI's progress this time around.
