MQL4 Moving Average Crossover System

Jim, I ran GuruEx03B with a 50 pip profit target (Cycle profit) and the EA missed several exits - why would that be? Also, surely it be better to place a pending order for both the target price and stop loss? These could then be canceled if there is a further crossover and either order hasn't been triggered. ie: Enter on MA x-over, place pending order to take profit as per "ProfitTarget" and place order to exit at "StopLoss".

On the attached below chart I've marked out the 50 pip exit points and as you can see price has sailed through these levels without exiting the position.

Long time no see!

People argue about pending orders. Personally I rather like them, but others complain that they allow unscrupulous brokers to hunt your stops. In this context they are certainly a bit trickier to program.

What time and pair does that chart show? That would help when trying to reproduce the problem.

Indeed it's been a while but I see you haven't aged a bit Anyhow, what a way to start over ... please ignore my previous post as I'm suffering brain fade; it's been a whiile since I picked up MT4.

What I gather from Moving Avg crossovers is that they almost certainly require filtering in some way. On it's own, MA crossovers look attractive but are in fact rather deadly!

i have an indicator based on simple moving average....i want to convert into an EA ...i have no knowledge ...i regret that...i wish i had knowledge of MQL ...but anyhow this is life...

i have been using that indicator and manually trading since long.....

if you can really convert it to an EA i would be very greatfull.....My wife bangs me daily for not giving her enough time....
