Ray Robot II™ Spread Bet Comparison - Alpari UK versus GKFX

We figured we'd kill several birds with one stone by running Ray Robot II™ in identical fashion on live spread bet accounts from both Alpari UK and GKFX. We also thought we'd run him on demo accounts from both brokers, and we'd also compare backtest results with all those forward test results. Read the full story of Ray's first day of simultaneous quadruple trading over on the blog.

Take a look at comprehensive logs and statistics on all four accounts at myfxbook, and pop back in here from time to time to read regular reports on any interesting things Ray may discover as the result of his ground breaking experiments.

To summarise the first day's results - No big surprises, unless you count Alpari's astronomical leverage, along with a bottom line of -2 real pounds plus -2 virtual pounds.

Day two turned out to be very much like day one. Another failed breakout on the short side, this time in the small hours of the morning. Another £1 loss across the board, although this time it took 56 mins for Ray's stop to get hit on GKFX, but only 29 mins on Alpari. The bottom line on all four accounts is now down to £248.00.

Longer reports on day three and day four are available on the Trading Gurus blog.

Consistent 10 pip losses on all four accounts, accompanied by inconsistent and sometimes very long delays on Ray's cable quotes.

The bottom line on all four of Ray Robot's spread bet test accounts is now down to £246.00.

A new version of Ray Robot 2's source code is now available. Also now included is a 36 page user manual that includes detailed reports on Ray's first week of live trading.

Today's trades were once again 10 pip losers across the board, lasting 5 minutes at Alpari UK as opposed to 6 minutes at GKFX. Worst case price delays so far today have been 35 seconds at 10:42:50 GMT on Alpari, and 36 seconds at 10:42:51 on GKFX.

Just a quick note to say that Ray Robot 2 is pleased as punch tonight because all four of his accounts are back in the black for the first time since he started his live spread betting comparison test between GKFX and Alpari UK!

After a demoralising start consisting of 9 10 pip losers in a row, Ray has bagged three 50 pip winners out of his last four trades. The bottom line on all four of his experimental accounts now stands at £255.00.

Ray is also pleased to announce that after a bit of persuasion of the powers that be over at Forex Factory, it is now possible to view his recent comeback on their Trade Explorer attached to our profile. Ray's overall return so far is 2% according to both Forex Factory and myfxbook. However for some strange reason Forex Factory report this evening that the maximum drawdown on Ray's GKFX live account as 3.6%, whereas myfxbook reports it as 3.21%:

Another intriguing anomaly is that yesterday's winning trade (on November 29th 2011) lasted a mere 4 minutes on Alpari, compared to a whopping 48 minutes on GKFX.

Ray Robot II ™ has now been live trading daily bars of GBP/USD for over five months, and here's how his Alpari UK spreadbet account looks today:

If you check out the "Monthly Analytics" tab at the bottom you'll see that Ray has had five winning months in a row, although with only one day's trading left in April it now seems certain that his winning sequence will be broken, not least because Ray has not yet had a single winning trade on a Monday!

One of our loyal readers has recently suggested that Ray's performance could be improved if a filter was added to stop him trying to catch the proverbial "falling knife". To discover what Ray makes of that idea, please take a look at the brand spanking new "Ray Robot Plugs in a Filter" thread.
