Suggestion for new category - Indicators

    Hi there,
I'm new here so hope I'm not treading on anyones toes or suggesting something that is in the forum that I have missed - no doubt someone will let me know on either subject if I am!!

Thought it might be useful to have a central point where Indicators were 'discussed / recommended/ introduced / developed etc etc.

Currently searching on the net for various indicators I find a 'nightmare' (ssch I'm over 60!) so would welcome an area where I knew that the indicators in the store actually did what they were supposed to do and did their job well.

So maybe if my suggestion for an Indicator section worked it may save myself and others a 'headache' or two!!

While I'm here maybe a good idea to start the ball rolling with a request.

Some time ago I came across an indicator that I thought would be very useful for me - by the way I currently trade manually since the thought of automatically losing my (demo) trading bank doesn't fill me with glee - winning automatically of course would be great!!

Anyway the indicator (mt4) concerned was able to show any moving average of choice and then as the price (candle) moved above or below it would raise an alert (pop up) or sound an audio wav alert. So as a result you could open multi charts and walk away from the pc until the sound alert 'gave you a call' to go back and take some action!

I think the name of the alert was BAA as in below average alert but I've searched and searched on the net and forums but can't refind it.

So I'm wondering if there is anyone that might be able to help with putting together 'the necessary' to formulate a working example of such an indicator. I have to say straight away here that since losing a lot of money due to using a commercial semi auto trading system I wouldn't be able to pay anyone for this to be developed but maybe there are others that could find the indicator useful.

Some of the 'user configurable' options that I can remember were:-

Selection of any moving average period - select any moving average mode ie simple/exponential etc
Selection of any price mode that would activate eg opening price / closing price / high / low etc
Choice of how many pips before or after the candle would be relevant to the ma line in order to activate the alert.
Choice of audio alarm on or use of pop up on screen
Choice of using any wav sound file stored in your mt4 sounds folder - thus allowing a different sould file to be used for every open chart.
Choice of how many times the sound alert would repeat - or not.
Choice of time delay between alerts
Choice of using pop up alert instead of sound

So don't know if anyone might be able to help out.

I found the indicator very useful as I have acute glaucoma in both eyes and therefore the availability of being able to use multi charts and only have to look at a specific chart as required was brilliant. Unfortunately the indicator disappeared along with otheres when some maintenance had to be performed on my pc.

Right better stop now or everyone will be falling to sleep!

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

As I suspect you suspect, I am the very same Jim that posted that very same indicator in another place a long time ago.

Thanks for your suggestion, and you can now find a new forum containing said indicator here.

If you've read much of my stuff, you will perhaps have realised by now that personally I'm not a big fan of indicators in general and moving averages in particular. Nonetheless I will be adding one or two indis to that new forum that can prove useful, both in terms of example source code and actual trading insight.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Well Jim,
Thank you very much for that indicator - really surprised to find it was actually produced by youself - well you know!
Will head over to it now and take a look and load it up. As mentioned before the configurable sound file part is very very helpful.
    Thanks again.
    Mike
